We do not require you to provide personal data to read our news. We do not sell your personal data for money. We do not use your data for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects.

3. Who receives your data

We use service providers that process data on our behalf, under contract: web hosting (Hostinger), e-mail delivery, and, if you accept the relevant cookies, analytics (Google Analytics) and advertising (Google AdSense and its partners). Some of these providers are independent controllers for their own purposes. We may disclose data when required by law or to protect our rights.

4. International transfers

We are based in Ecuador, and our providers may process data in the United States, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and other countries. Where required, we rely on safeguards such as adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses or equivalent contractual protections, and on the transfer rules of Ecuador's Personal Data Protection Law.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access your data; correct it; delete it; restrict or object to processing; receive it in a portable format; withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect processing already done); and not be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing. To exercise a right, e-mail copyright@economy-media.com. We answer within the legal deadline (generally 30 days, and no later than the period set by applicable law). We may need to verify your identity. Exercising your rights is free of charge.

You can withdraw cookie consent at any time using "Cookie settings" in the footer, and unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in every e-mail.

If the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) applies to us, California residents may ask to know, access, correct and delete their personal information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If you accept advertising cookies, our advertising partners may collect identifiers and browsing activity, which can count as "sharing" under California law. You can opt out at any time through "Cookie settings" (choose "Reject all"), and we treat a Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out request. We do not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. You may use an authorized agent to make a request.

7. Children

The Site is a general news publication. Subscriptions, the newsletter and the contact form are for adults (18 or older). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK, or from minors where local law requires parental consent). If you believe a child gave us data, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security and data breaches

We use measures appropriate to the risk, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and minimal data collection. If a breach affects your rights and freedoms, we will notify the competent authority and affected people within the deadlines set by law.

9. Changes

When we change this policy in a material way we update the date above and, where required, ask for your consent again.
